And The Angels Sing...EH Cathedral Reverb Pedal

We just received this spectacular pedal from Electro Harmonix: the Cathedral Reverb! It's hard to describe in brief how great this thing is, but check out this link for more:

http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/Issue/2010/Jan/Electro_Harmonix_Cathedral_Stereo_Reverb_Pedal_Review.aspx

My friend and fellow roaddog Jimmy Clark stopped in yesterday and spent an hour with this little beastie. He played a Tele through the Cathedral into an EH .22Caliber power-amp pedal into a 1x12 cab. One feature that knocked him out was the delay setting. What happens is the delay is generated by the reverb circuit, so you've got bonafide delay with this slight but exquisite wash of reverb in the background to sweeten everything just so. Plus the pedal is finished beautifully. It's going on my Christmas list for sure. Call me at 615-507-8518 to get yours.

Also just in: EH Memory Man with Hazari Looper, .22Caliber Power Amp pedal

A Pretty Pair: 1981 Les Paul Artisan, 1984 Les Paul Custom

Quite the lookers, these two. The Artisan is special. Here's what the excellent "Modern Era Of The Les Paul Legacy: 1968-2009" book says about it:
"Frills, bells and whistles...loads of extra fingerboard trim, reminiscent of the early banjo days, was added to this fancy Les Paul Custom variation. Gibson's original Granada banjo design with the "exquisite hearts and flowers" patterns was artistically inlaid on the ebony fingerboard, along with the old-style Gibson script logo on the headstock"

This one is in really excellent condition. Tobacco Sunburst, Series VII humbuckers, TP-6 fine-tuning tailpiece(standard from 1978 on), built-in string winder tuners, 3-piece maple neck, no volute, multi-layered Custom style binding and on and on. The inlay is in near perfect condition.

The 1984 Les Paul Custom in Silverburst is equally amazing. The Silverburst option was available from '79 to '82, so this may have been a special order. This guitar is a 9.9 out of 10.

The guitars are in the new High-End and Vintage Room at Sam Ash Nashville, where the picture was taken. Call me cel at 615-507-8518 with any questions. Free 2-day drop-ship to lower 48 states!

Truly A Rare Bird: Brand-New Rickenbacker 4003 Bass

No kidding- having a new Rickenbacker bass show up on your loading dock is about as rare as finding a lead singer willing to make an effort.
This is a beautiful 4003 model in JetGlo(um, black) with case included of course. It features the legendary two jack Rick-O-Sound output option, which means you can use one jack and get the standard both pickups on, or use both jacks and send each pickup to a separate amp for a faux stereo effect. The bass also has a push-pull tone knob which gives you either a standard tone or a more treble-y tone("vintage" setting).

I had the 4001 version of this for a while back in the 70's until some rat bastard broke into my place in Wiesbaden and stole it along with some other special items. May he rest in pieces. Anyway, we used to liken the Rick bass tone to a sledgehammer striking a church bell. While it certainly has that tone, in the years since I've seen these beasties put to good use in all kinds of music including funk with slap. This is one classy piece of work!

Holler at me if you want it, free 2-day dropship to lower 48 states. My cel is 615-507-8518.

Duolian, Tricone, Dobro, Uke, Kala UBass, Mandola

We just received the 1st shipment of Regal Duolian and Tricone Resonators, plus a number of Regal round and square neck Resophonic (Dobro) guitars. The build quality is amazing to say the least. The Resonators pictured are solid bell brass and nickel-plated steel with aluminum resonators. The string action out of the box is near-perfect, that is if you don't mind playing the manly sized 13-gauge Daddario phosphor-bronze strings they come with. Very reasonably priced. Very low or even free shipping to lower 48 states. Call me 615 507 8518.

Great selection of Ukeles now in stock.

The amazing Kala Uke-Bass! More an electric bass despite it's appearance. When played through an amp the plastic strings give it a huge upright bass sound that has to be heard (and seen) to be believed. Reminds me of the old Guild Ashbory bass of decades past. Very quality build, great attention to detail, high-end tuners etc. Check it out at http://www.kalaukulele.com/UBASS.asp

We have a Trinity College Mandola with case. The Mandola is like an A-style mandolin only twice the size and tuned down an octave. Mainly used in Celtic music, but very much in use in the studios here in Nashville for all kinds of music. I once saw Richard Bennett play an entire set on one while backing up a rootsy country singer. Pictures will follow.
