Gibson ES-Artist

From the island of wild and whacky ideas comes this 1980 Gibson ES-Artist. At the time it was certainly groundbreaking. This guitar has fully functioning electronics by Moog and features 3 toggle switches that control compression, brightness and expansion, all powered by a 9V battery. Also a master volume knob and active treble and bass knobs with boost-and-cut and a center-detent.
Gorgeous cherry sunburst (clownburst for the New Yorkers), stock TP6 tailpiece, ebony fretboard, side-mounted dot markers ala Chet, slim 3-piece maple neck and 'flying f-hole' headstock inlay round out this gem.
With the electronics turned off the guitar has a beautiful, rich and sparkling 335 tone. Without f-holes, there is no chance of unwanted feedback. The circuit board, courtesy of Bob Moog, has 3 trim pots for the various functions.
This is a very unique piece of guitar history and needs a good home. Chris Scruggs was here recently and loved it. Please call me at 615-507-8518 or call the store at 615-860-7475 and ask for Nick Kane. Free shipping to lower 48. Better yet, come by the store and play it yourself!
