This is a recent Fender American Standard Telecaster that has been professionally covered in laquered tweed and features an Oxblood speaker-grill-cloth pickguard! Not so much for lead due to small space between strings and pickguard but great for rhythm. You could always replace pickguard with a thin single-ply one to make it work for lead.
